Tammy - Napptacular EarArt

Are you from Saint Louis? If not, where (and why did you come to Saint Louis)?

Hi Jasmine and thank you for this awesome opportunity, yes I’m originally from Saint Louis. I was born and raised here in the city. I grow up in West and North St Louis City. Blackstone and Minerva, Wells and Union, Plymouth, Enright, and Greer are the streets I’ve called home.

Which High School did you attend, (if you attended high school in MO)? (If not from Saint Louis, you can opt out of this question)

LOL when I hear that question people say that’s a St Louis question. I attended and graduated from Soldan High School. S-O-L-D-A-N T-I-G-E-R SOLDAN TIGER. I love that Maroon and Gold (my fellow Tigers will get that lol)

Which area is the best? Why? (County (North, South, West), City, St. Charles, Chesterfield, East Saint Louis, etc...)

I don’t know what area is best. I’ve lived in the city all my life. When I was younger and in my 20’s I loved the city life. Hear children playing outside. I’d watch children racing in the street. We’d sit on our front porch listening to music and holding conversation with neighbors. I’d laugh with people playing in the water hydrate on hot days trying to stay cool. Now I’m in my mid 40’s and I’m starting to like quiet more (lol) and my neighborhood it’s one of the quiet parts. I’ve never wanted to live in the county or leave the city but I’m now looking for a nice quiet neighborhood in the city.

Tell me something about yourself that you would like to share.

My name is Tamala but I prefer Tammy. I am the mother of 3 children whom I love very much. I’m an entrepreneur, blogger, poet, author, creator/designer and owner of Napptacular. I love reading (just purchased a new book last week) and listening to music. Creating brings me peace of mind and once I start I find my working for hours on end.

What is/are the name(s) of your business (es) and describe it/them (please provide a website and email address if possible). Why did you start it/them?

Napptacular has been in business for 3 years. I create and design hand-made jewelry. I also have Napptacular apparel. My business started by accident. I was in a Natural photo shoot with Local photographer JoVonda Winters. She asked for African inspired jewelry. I decided to create my own jewelry. At that time I was creating hand painted wine glasses. I took earring I currently had and used my paint supplies to create my African inspired jewelry. I designed a few pair of earrings and loved it so much I kept it going. My creative flow kicked in and my business was born. The name Napptacular came from brain storming with a group of Divas sisters I had the pleasure of becoming friends with on Facebook. Napptacular EarArt can be found on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Tumblr.
